On a Crafting Table, 1 Redstone Dust and 1 Stick turns into a Redstone Torch. The grid takes a single Redstone Dust in the top-middle cell and a single Stick in the bottom-middle cell. That comes out as 1 Redstone Torch.

A Redstone Torch provides a constant redstone signal and inverts incoming signals, functioning as a NOT gate. Redstone Torch uses a shaped recipe: the ingredients only work in the pattern shown.

The redstone torch was already in the game in Minecraft Beta 1.0, the oldest release with an English language file to read, so this recipe is at least that old.

The materials come together from a few sources: you will be working with redstone dust (mine redstone ore) and stick (craft from planks).
