Bring 8 Chiseled Stone Bricks and 1 Iron Ingot to a Crafting Table and you have a Lodestone. The top row is three Chiseled Stone Bricks, the middle row two Chiseled Stone Bricks in the left and right columns and an Iron Ingot in the middle column, and the bottom row three Chiseled Stone Bricks. A single craft gives you 1 Lodestone.

Overview

Use a compass on a Lodestone to make a Lodestone Compass that points to it from anywhere, even across dimensions. Lodestone uses a shaped recipe: the ingredients only work in the pattern shown.

This recipe first appears in the game's own data files in Minecraft 1.16, and not in the release before it. The recipe itself last changed in Minecraft 1.21.5. Guides written before that release show a different set of ingredients for the lodestone, so check the grid above rather than the video.

The materials come together from a few sources: you will be working with chiseled stone bricks (craft from stone brick slabs) and iron ingot (smelt iron ore).
