1 Gold Ore goes into the top of a Furnace with fuel underneath, and a Gold Ingot comes out. Each round in there leaves you with 1 Gold Ingot.

The item ID for Gold Ingot is minecraft:gold_ingot. In commands the namespace may be left off, so gold_ingot works too. Checked against Minecraft Java 26.2.

Overview
Gold Ingots are smelted from gold ore. Gold has high enchantability but low durability. Gold Ingot is produced by smelting in a Furnace rather than by arranging items in a grid.
The gold ingot was already in the game in Minecraft Beta 1.0, the oldest release with an English language file to read, so this recipe is at least that old. The recipe itself last changed in Minecraft 1.16. Guides written before that release show a different set of ingredients for the gold ingot, so check the grid above rather than the video.
The materials come together from a few sources: you will be working with gold ore (mine gold ore (Y 32 to -64) or nether gold ore).
Counting The Stack
One stack is 64 goes at 1 gold ore each, which totals 64 gold ingots. It divides evenly, no gold ore left over.

Step-by-Step Instructions
- Open your Furnace interface.
- Place Gold Ore in the top input slot.
- Add fuel (coal, charcoal, wood, etc.) to the bottom fuel slot.
- Wait for the smelting progress bar to complete. Collect your Gold Ingot from the output slot.
